Back to Reality

I went back to work yesterday for the first time in 12 weeks.  I'm not going to lie.  It was HARD.  I've been dreading that day for weeks.  I packed everything up for the kids the night before and we headed out the door at about 4:40am.  Yuck!  I felt awful taking my sleeping baby out of her bassinet to put her in the carseat.  Fortunately she stayed asleep the whole time.  I got Delaney out of her bed and she was so excited to go to "Anna's" house.  Jordan was with his dad so it was one less person to get out the door that early in the morning.  Thank god.

We dropped Harper off at Grandma's house.  It's nice that my mom can watch her for us.  It saves us some money and Harper is getting the one on one attention that she needs.  Plus I know that she's getting lots of hugs and kisses from her Grandma all day long.  It makes this transition so much easier on me.  Thanks Mom!

Delaney goes to Kierstin's mom's house (Angela).  She's been going there since she was 3 months old.  She loves "Anna" and she gets to play with her friends.  She's also happy to see her big sister when she gets home from school.  Most might think it's odd to have my husband's ex-girlfriend watch our daughter, but it's really been a blessing for us.  I don't worry about Delaney while I'm at work.  Angela adores her and Delaney loves going there.  It's an added bonus that she gets to see her big sister more often too.

When 4 o'clock rolled around yesterday I could not get to my babies fast enough.  Delaney jumped into my arms to give me hugs and kisses.  Angela said she had a good day.  She was filthy from playing out back all day.  Don't miss that part, but glad to see my little girl happy.  We then headed to pick up Harper.  She stared at me for a minute before she got a huge grin on her face.  It was so precious.  Grandma looked exhausted, but I know it will get easier for her once Harper has more of a daytime routine.

Phew!  I made it through my first day back at work.  It would be a dream to be a stay at home mom, but it's just not in the cards for me.  I'm very thankful that we have wonderful people in our lives to take such good care of our babies.
