Pool Time

We spent our Sunday afternoon at a friends house swimming. We all had so much fun. This was the first time that Delaney actually enjoyed the pool. Everytime we've tried to put her in the pool this summer she has cried. This time there were no tears. Only a happy baby splashing around. My theory is that she's just like her Mama and only enjoys the pool if it feels like bath water. Gotta love July in AZ!

Tooth Fairy Jackpot

Poor Jordan had to have 8 teeth pulled last Tuesday. It's time to start thinking about braces and his orthodontist said that his teeth are just too crowded. I was told this in the early part of June and just couldn't bring myself to put him through having his teeth pulled. After all, the most I had pulled at one time was 4. So how in the world could I subject him to that kind of torture?! I had a horrible experience with the dentist as a child. I had many fillings and extractions. Jordan on the other hand has never had a cavity. The most he has needed to have done was sealants on his molars. I thought for sure that pulling his teeth would traumatize him. The orthodontist thinks that by pulling these (baby) teeth that it will allow his other teeth to straighten out and his adult teeth will come in straight. The hope is that he won't need braces at all or if he does that it will only be for a short time. I thought maybe Jordan would need to be sedated so that he wouldn't freak out, but we decided to just use the laughing gas. I was so nervous for him when they took him back to have it done. I was not allowed to go back there. This is a pediatric dentist and they are awesome! They are so great with the kids. Jordan was done within 20 mintues. His mouth was full of gauze and he seemed a little out of it but fine. When we were headed home he kept complaining that his mouth was still numb. He was mostly annoyed by that. He was not in any pain. He bled for about 30 minutes and I kept changing the gauze, but after that he was fine. As a matter of fact he was running around the house trying to make Delaney laugh. It ended up not being a big deal at all. I'm so amazed by him.

Relaxing at home with a mouth full of gauze and his teeth in his hand.

All 8 of his teeth. Yuck!

The best part of this whole experience for Jordan was that the tooth fairy left him $40.00!! That's $5.00 per tooth! She left a note to let him know that he deserved that much because he was so brave. Such a lucky kid he is and what a great tooth fairy he has!!

Her latest obsession

As soon as I open the dishwasher, Delaney will crawl as fast as she can to get to me. I'm not really sure what's so great about the dishwasher, but she is fascinated by it. Hopefully she'll help her Mama put the dishes away someday.

Yippee! Mama opened the dishwasher!

Oooooo look at all this stuff!

Who me??

Caught

This is where I find them quite often. Playing with the dollhouse together. Jordan won't admit it, but he enjoys playing with his sisters. He would kill me if he knew I posted this picture on my blog. Ha Ha!! Delaney is quite good at causing an "earthquake" for them. I love sweet moments like these.

Equipment Day

Jordan has decided that he's ready to try something new. So we've said goodbye to karate and are moving on to FOOTBALL! We picked up all of his gear yesterday. He will use the gear for the season and then turn it in when the season is over. His practices start on Aug 2nd and he will practice from 6-8pm Monday through Friday for 4 weeks until the first game on August 28th. YIKES!! That's a lot of practice. Plus he goes back to school on August 9th. I have a feeling that we'll have a very tired boy on our hands. I'm hopeful that he'll enjoy this though.

Happy kid with all of his equipment

Posing with his gear on. He should get his jersey at his first practice.

Isn't he cute?!

Letting Zoey and Lucy know who's boss!

The helmet is a little tight and at this point he's having a hard time getting it on and off. This is a picture of Rob trying to help him take it off. Wearing the helmet is his least favorite thing so far.

Our Fabulous Fourth

We spent our 4th of July with good friends at the Heuer house. The kids played outdoors on the slip n' slide and in the pool. We had sliders off the grill and yummy sweet corn on the cobb among other wonderful foods. We played games, enjoyed each others company, watched fireworks and had a great day!

Kierstin's Party

We had Kierstin's birthday party today at Peter Piper Pizza. It would be nice to have her party outdoors in a park, but no way. Not in this heat. We prefer the air conditioned convenience of a place the kids can play and we don't have to clean up afterwards. It was a small party with just a few friends and the grandparents. We enjoyed pizza, opened gifts and of course devoured cake. The perfect way to celebrate her 7th birthday!

Our Guest

We've had a guest in our house all week. My former kitty Jack came to stay with us while his mommy is out of town on vacation. Here's a little back story on Jack. Jordan and I went to the Humane Society back in 2006 to look for a kitten. They had 3 black kittens there and they were all so adorable. Two of them were running around chasing each other and the third was just sitting there staring at us. We chose that calm kitty and brought him home with us. Little did we know that the calm kitty would love to climb walls and attack your legs when you walked down the hall. After Jack was neutered and declawed he calmed down some. He loves to be in the bathroom while I shower, greet me in the morning while I'm getting ready for work, and cuddle up next to me while I put on my makeup. He can be such a sweetheart, while at the same time if you pet him the wrong way he'll bite you! When I got pregnant with Delaney we decided that it would be best if Jack went to live with my sister (aka Aunt Liz). He wouldn't have to deal with the dogs or kids bothering him anymore and he wouldn't be climbing into the baby's crib, car seat, etc. So Jack has lived with Liz since last August. He's been visiting us since last Saturday and it's been so fun having him around! He's still not real fond of the kids or dogs so he spends most of his time upstairs where he feels safe. He sits on the desk next to me while I'm on the computer and just purrs. He really is a good kitty and it's nice having him here for a visit. Liz better come home soon or we might not let her have him back!
