Tooth Fairy Jackpot

Poor Jordan had to have 8 teeth pulled last Tuesday. It's time to start thinking about braces and his orthodontist said that his teeth are just too crowded. I was told this in the early part of June and just couldn't bring myself to put him through having his teeth pulled. After all, the most I had pulled at one time was 4. So how in the world could I subject him to that kind of torture?! I had a horrible experience with the dentist as a child. I had many fillings and extractions. Jordan on the other hand has never had a cavity. The most he has needed to have done was sealants on his molars. I thought for sure that pulling his teeth would traumatize him. The orthodontist thinks that by pulling these (baby) teeth that it will allow his other teeth to straighten out and his adult teeth will come in straight. The hope is that he won't need braces at all or if he does that it will only be for a short time. I thought maybe Jordan would need to be sedated so that he wouldn't freak out, but we decided to just use the laughing gas. I was so nervous for him when they took him back to have it done. I was not allowed to go back there. This is a pediatric dentist and they are awesome! They are so great with the kids. Jordan was done within 20 mintues. His mouth was full of gauze and he seemed a little out of it but fine. When we were headed home he kept complaining that his mouth was still numb. He was mostly annoyed by that. He was not in any pain. He bled for about 30 minutes and I kept changing the gauze, but after that he was fine. As a matter of fact he was running around the house trying to make Delaney laugh. It ended up not being a big deal at all. I'm so amazed by him.

Relaxing at home with a mouth full of gauze and his teeth in his hand.

All 8 of his teeth. Yuck!

The best part of this whole experience for Jordan was that the tooth fairy left him $40.00!! That's $5.00 per tooth! She left a note to let him know that he deserved that much because he was so brave. Such a lucky kid he is and what a great tooth fairy he has!!

  1. Wish the Tooth Fairy would have left me cash when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. All she left me was bill! Good job Jordan boy!
