Valentine's Week

I'm just going to sum up the week.  A week full of family love.  And I'm just now realizing that there are no pictures of Jordan in this post.  Big time mommy fail.

Wednesday was the 4th Daddy-Daughter dance that Rob and Kierstin have attended together.  I took these pictures before they left.

Rob has many, MANY more Daddy-Daughter dances in his future.  Lucky guy.  Why isn't there a Mother-Son dance?  I'm feeling a bit left out.  No fair.

I was off on Valentine's Day so I got to spend the day with my kids.  Jordan only had a half day at school too.  So while it doesn't look like he was around, I assure you he was!

I surprised Jordan with the Hotel Transylvania DVD and Delaney got a Valentine's book.  I forgot to take a picture of their gifts.  Whoops!  The movie is actually pretty good.  I was surprised.  And it was on sale at Target so it was a good purchase.

Harper wore her LOVE shirt which was a gift from her Grandma Fisch.  Thanks Grandma!

Delaney was not going to look at the camera.  My stubborn girl.  She's going to be a heartbreaker.  Watch out boys.

Rob and I were engaged 6 years ago on Valentine's Day, so it's an extra special day for us.  He brought me home a piece of OREO Cheesecake (my favorite) and we got take out from Pei Wei.  We kept it low key with the kids.  Plus crowded restaurants aren't really my thing.

The girls being silly.  Rob took this picture while I was at work and sent it to me.

Harper has discovered Jordan's old rocking chair and loves it.  She also loves to stand on it and give me a heart attack!

The girls were playing on Kierstin's old Futon bed.  She got a new bed so we're in the process of selling it.  Therefore it's hanging out in the livingroom and the girls think it's a fun toy.

Delaney tends to be too rough with Harper as you can see above.  Harper is holding on for dear life.

This girl loves her Mommy, but if Daddy is in the room I take second place.  We're also having a hard time breaking the bottle habit.  This girl loves that thing and so far has refused every sippy cup I've given her.  We're still trying though...

That sums up our week.  A nice quiet Valentine's with all my loves.

Delaney vs. Dentist

I'm gonna be real honest here.  I was dreading taking Delaney to the dentist for the first time.  She is just a drama queen and I figured that it would be as traumatic for me as it would be for her.

I left work early so that I could take her.  This was a few weeks ago.  When I got home this girl REFUSED to get dressed.  There was no amount of bribery that was going to get those clothes on.  She was kicking and screaming.  I'm talking full on tantrum.  I have no idea why she was even scared to go.  Where did she get it in her head that the dentist was so scary?

It took Rob and I both, working together holding her down to get her dressed.  Un-freaking-believable!!

She and I got to the office and she refused to get out of the car.  So I carried her in.  Once we were inside and she saw how much fun this place looked, something clicked.  Tears to smiles in 1 point 2 seconds.

I fully understand how people claim to get gray hair from their children.  Holy cow does this girl stress me out!

She happily played games while waiting to be taken back.  Their whole set up is pretty cool.  Jordan's been coming to this dentist for years and Kierstin goes there now too.

She listened and sat while they did her x-rays.  She took directions well and without any tears or fear got her teeth cleaned.  An extremely cooperative little angel.  Who is this kid?

The bad news is they found two teeny tiny cavities.  The dentist showed them to me.  They are literally tiny specs on two of her molars and they cost us $124 to fill!!  What the heck insurance?!

It figures that my 3 year old has 2 cavities at her first appointment and then there's my 12 year old that has never had a single cavity.  What gives?  It looks like Delaney may have inherited her mommy's bad teeth.  Poor girl.

When it was time to leave she proceeded to throw another crying fit!  The girl who didn't want to go to the dentist now didn't want to leave!!  Ugh.

The picture above was taken on Thursday after getting her cavities filled.  I wasn't allowed to go back with her to get them filled.  When they called her name to go back and she realized that I wasn't going with her, she looked so pitiful.  But then the dental assistant mentioned the Popsicle she'd get at the end and she darted back there.  See ya Mom!!  That's my big girl!

When she was finished she was very happy to see me.  They proceeded to give her a 2nd Popsicle (gotta stay in business ya know) and told me what a great job she did at only 3 years old!  That's right, I'm a proud mommy.

And without fail we left the dentist office in tears because she didn't want to leave.

On the bright side I'm so glad that she likes the dentist and I hope it stays that way forever!

Jordan Lately

I write so much about my little girls, but I do have a very special son.  He's in the sixth grade and kicking butt in school.  All A's and B's on his report cards.  He also reminds me often that he'll be a teenager soon.  Me?  The mother of a teenager?  Impossible!!

This is one of the pictures we had taken in November.  I'm shocked at how grown up he looks.

He'll always be my baby no matter how old he gets.

I think he looks great in braces.  He's going to have one hell of a killer smile when those bad boys come off.  You're welcome Jordan.

He is the BEST big brother to his little sisters.  I always wanted a big brother so I consider my girls extremely lucky.  I know he'll always look out for them.

He plays the guitar.  He's currently taking lessons every Thursday evening.  He also sings in the choir at school.  His musical side comes from my side of the family.  Sports aren't really his thing.

He was recently Student of the Month at his school.

I love this kid!  He makes this Mama proud!

Love you Jordan

Twelve Months Old! 01.07.13

Soooo..... it's February.  In case you haven't noticed.  Harper has been 12 months old for almost 4 weeks now.  As a matter of fact she'll be 13 months old on Thursday.  And I'm just NOW sitting down to write this post. January started out great and then the kids got sick.  Which means that Rob and I were sick too.  The sickness is still lingering and is on round two in some cases.  Hoping we're all much better very soon.

Anyways,

Harper you are TWELVE months old!!!!

I took you to get some 1 year pictures taken last week.  This was the best of the bunch.  It's also a picture of a picture so not great quality, but you get the point.  You had no interest in sitting pretty for a picture.  There was too much going on in the studio and too many new things to play with.  I do love this picture though.

Sleep:  One whole year with an awesome sleeper = AMAZING!  Such a blessing.

Feed:  You are eating only table food and cow's milk now.  Big girl city up in here!  Your favorites are yogurt, cereal, mac n'cheese, green beans and cheese puffs.  You have 3 (almost 4) teeth now.

Weight:  At your one year well visit on January 10th you weighed 21 lbs 8 oz.  That's the 75th percentile.  That means you've only gained 10 oz since your 9 month well visit.  The doctor said that's totally normal since you're so mobile now.

Length: At your one year well visit you were 31 inches long or the 96th percentile.  I think you'll be tall like your daddy.

Diapers/Clothes:  You're still wearing size 4 diapers and 18-24 months in clothes.

Hair Color/Eye Color:  Your hair is dark blonde and you have blue eyes.  I love that both you and your big sister D have your daddy's eyes.

Milestones:  I thought for sure that you'd be walking by now, but you're still content with furniture cruising.  You will take steps on your own if it's a short distance from one piece of furniture to the next.  Otherwise you're still pushing chairs, toys, etc around the house.

This has been such a fantastic year watching you grow.  Your brother and sisters all adore you.  You have the sweetest little personality and we can't imagine life without you.  You make our little family feel complete.

Twelve months old.  A whole year gone.  Wow. Just WOW.

XOXOXOXO

Mommy

Disney On Ice

I bought Disney On Ice tickets back in November.  I have wanted to take Delaney to a show for a long time, but I didn't feel like she was quite ready... until now.  We've tried taking her to the movie theater, but she's just not interested in sitting down that long.

I was so excited to take her and she was just as excited as I was!  I got great discount tickets through my employer.

Then she woke up on Sunday morning sick.  Total bummer.  She kept telling me that she still wanted to go, so I decided that since she wasn't throwing up that we'd go sit and watch the show.  The picture above was taken before we left.  She slept in the car for the 30 minute drive.

Once we got there she was re-energized and ready to go!  It was fun to see her so in awe of everything.  I bought this extremely overpriced toy for her.  These places sure know how to suck the money right out of you, but to see her happy made me happy.

We were waiting for the show to start.

Her sweet little face just looks sick here, but she's still smiling.  My poor baby.

We saw the Princess and the Frog first and than Cinderella!

Delaney's favorite part was Tangled (mine too).  We have probably seen that movie at least 200 times.  Not kidding.  She's obsessed.  As soon as she saw Flynn Rider she start waving like crazy.  This girls got a serious crush.

The whole thing was pretty neat.  They were swinging in the air by her "hair".  And a kid in the audience got to help release a lantern into the air.

By the end of the show Delaney started to get the chills so I knew a fever must be coming.  By the time we walked out she was burning up.  I carried my 32 lb kid all the way to our car and she slept all the way home.

This is not exactly how I pictured this day turning out, but I'm so glad that we were still able to go.  I can't wait until I can go back and take both of my girls.  I'm such a sucker for Disney.

Harper's Party

I'm home today with two sick little girls so I thought I'd post the rest of Harper's party pictures.

Simple and cute decorations.  Just the way I like it.  I'm not a very crafty or Pinterest inspired person, even though I'd like to be.

The birthday girls throne.  I loved the polka dot balloons.

All of the party food which was simply snack type food for an afternoon party.

This is the cupcake cake that everyone else ate while Harper had her smash cake.  Mmmmm buttercream frosting.

Pre-party picture with Daddy.  Melts my heart.

Me with the birthday girl.  She looks like she doesn't feel well in this picture.

She's a total Daddy's girl.

Opening presents with my girls.

And more presents....

I've had this car toy in my closet since November and Delaney has asked me almost daily if she can ride it.  She couldn't wait for Harper's birthday so she could play with it.

Harper loves the car of course.  She pushes it all over the house.

This is Harper's friend Sophiyah.  She's 4 weeks younger than Harper.  Her mama is my childhood friend Jenn.  We need to get our girls together more often.

This is Harper's other friend Leia.  She's 12 weeks younger than Harper.  Her mama is my other childhood friend Jayme.  She and I also need to get together more often.  My baby needs some friends around her to grow up with that are NOT siblings!

This is Harper with her Grandma Fisch (my mom).  I love this picture.

Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate our baby girls birthday.  We kept the party small and it was perfect for her 1st birthday.

Smash Cake

I'm breaking up the birthday party post into 2 parts because I have a lot of pictures that I want to share.  Let me start out by saying that Harper did not feel well yesterday.  Poor thing has been sick since Wednesday with a cold.  We've had some serious boogers and an occasional cough going on and the doctor confirmed that she had an ear infection at her 1 year well visit on Thursday.

Her party was at 2:30 pm and she took two long naps prior to her party, which is very unlike her.  She was in an okay mood at her party, just not her usual playful self and when it came time for her smash cake she was having none of that nonsense.  Check it out....

Such a pretty little cake!

And what am I supposed to do with this...?

Oh you're singing to me?!  I like that!

Thank you Delaney for blowing out my candle!

Why are you all staring at me??

I think I'd rather play with my new toy.

Daddy put my hands in the cake!!!!  Mommy put frosting on my lips!!!

Save me!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not like this AT ALL!!

I think I like this chocolate cupcake with NO frosting on top soooooo much better.

NOM, NOM, NOM.....

On her actual birthday, last Monday, we gave her a small cupcake and she stuffed that thing in her face.  So if Harper would have felt better yesterday I think we would have had a whole different experience.  But regardless I think this made for a much more interesting time.  Maybe that makes me a mean mommy? Oh well!  It was pretty darn funny.
